Epoxy flooring is a subset of resinous flooring. It is a specific type of flooring system that uses epoxy resins as the primary material. Epoxy resins are two-component mateials (resin and hardener) that chemically react when mixed to create a rigid, plastic-like surface. Epoxy flooring is known for its durability, chemical resistance, and seamless, glossy finish.
Epoxy flooring can be used in various applications, including residential, commercial, and industrial settings. It's commonly seen in garages, basements, retail spaces, manufacturing facilities, and more. Epoxy flooring is available in different types, such as epoxy coatings, self-leveling epoxy, and epoxy mortar systems, allowing for versatility in design and performance.

Epoxy flooring offers a wide range of benefits, making it a popular choice for both residential and commercial applications. Here are some of the key advantages of epoxy flooring:
Durability: Epoxy flooring is exceptionally durable and can withstand heavy foot traffic, impact, and abrasion. It's an ideal choice for high-traffic areas in commercial and industrial settings.
Chemical Resistance: Epoxy is highly resistant to chemicals, including oils, solvents, and acids. This resistance makes it suitable for garages, workshops, and manufacturing facilities.
Easy to Clean: Epoxy floors create a seamless, non-porous surface that is easy to clean and maintain. Spills and stains can be wiped up without leaving marks.
Versatility: Epoxy can be customized with a wide range of colors, patterns, and finishes. It allows for creative designs and can be tailored to match the aesthetic of the space.
Hygienic: The smooth, seamless surface of epoxy flooring inhibits the growth of bacteria and other microorganisms. This makes it suitable for areas where hygiene is a priority, such as commercial kitchens and healthcare facilities.
Stain Resistance: Epoxy is resistant to stains from a variety of substances, including chemicals, oils, and food. This quality is especially beneficial in garages and kitchens.
High Gloss: Epoxy coatings can create a high-gloss, reflective surface that enhances the brightness of interior spaces by reflecting light.
Safety: Epoxy can be formulated with additives to create anti-slip surfaces, ensuring safety in areas prone to wet conditions.
Moisture Resistance: Epoxy coatings can help seal and protect concrete surfaces from moisture infiltration, which is especially important in basements and areas prone to water exposure.
Longevity: When properly installed and maintained, epoxy flooring can have a long lifespan, providing a cost-effective flooring solution over time.
Environmental Benefits: Some epoxy formulations are low in VOC (volatile organic compounds) and are considered environmentally friendly.
Quick Installation: Epoxy flooring can often be installed relatively quickly, reducing downtime for commercial and industrial spaces.
Enhanced Aesthetics: Epoxy can transform the look of a space, making it visually appealing. It's available in a variety of colors and decorative options.
Protection for Substrate: Epoxy not only improves the aesthetics but also protects the underlying concrete or substrate from damage.
UV Resistance: Certain epoxy formulations are UV-resistant, which prevents discoloration and yellowing when exposed to sunlight.
Epoxy flooring is known for its exceptional durability. It is resistant to abrasion, impact, chemicals, and heavy foot or vehicle traffic. When properly installed and maintained, epoxy floors can last for many years, making them a cost-effective choice for various applications.
Yes, epoxy flooring is a versatile option for residential spaces. It's commonly used in garages, basements, kitchens, and even outdoor areas like patios. Epoxy coatings not only enhance the appearance of these spaces but also provide protection against stains, moisture, and wear and tear.
The installation time for epoxy flooring can vary depending on the size of the area, the condition of the existing floor, and the specific epoxy system being used. Generally, it can take anywhere from one to five days, with factors like drying and curing times influencing the duration.
Epoxy flooring is relatively low maintenance. It's easy to clean with mild detergents and water, and its smooth, seamless surface prevents the buildup of dirt and dust. Regular sweeping or mopping can keep the floor looking great for years. Periodic resealing may be necessary, especially in high-traffic areas.

Did a great job with my stamped concrete restoration. The original concrete contractor left me high and try with a very bad pour. Looked awful. Called Gilmondo and he completely restored it and it looks great. And he did overcharge me which I really appreciate.
